About FFKM
Technical Properties
The exceptional thermal, oxidative, and chemical stability of perfluoroelastomers (FFKMs) stems from the high bond dissociation energy of the Carbon-Fluorine (C-F) bond. This bond is one of the strongest single bonds in organic chemistry.
PTFE and Polymer Structure
While PTFE (Teflon®) provides excellent stability due to complete C-F substitution, FFKMs achieve elasticity by incorporating specific monomers that disrupt chain regularity, creating an amorphous structure capable of elastic recovery.
